NOLA MusiCon is a unique music industry conference and event in the heart of one of the most diverse and vibrant music communities in the world, New Orleans, Louisiana. The three day event features informative sessions and inspirational interviews with music industry professionals and thought leaders, one-on-one mentor sessions, demos, unparalleled networking, and much more!
Conference sessions will take you through every stage of your music career, from inspiration, creation, production and distribution, to navigating the music industry. Attendees will be immersed in topics from music creation, production, recording and live performance to music supervision, PR, publishing, revenue streams, activism and music tech.

Production Team
With decades of collective event production experience with some of the world’s largest and most influential music and cultural events, the NOLA MusiCon team are professionals with established relationships who can deliver a world class music industry event in the heart of New Orleans.
Executive Producer
Melissa O’Brien
Since moving to the New Orleans area over five years ago, Melissa O’Brien has produced multiple music related events in addition to NOLA MusiCon, including NOLA MusicTech, a conference highlighting the intersection of music and technology. Previously, she was at South by Southwest Conferences & Festivals for 20+ years, where she did everything from managing a crew of 30 volunteers to managing over 900 speakers a year, ultimately serving as the head of the SXSW Music Conference from 2012 to 2017. Melissa is also a co-owner of Five24 Productions, creating digital content for various clients.
Executive Producer
Kirk O’Brien
Kirk O’Brien is a seasoned Media Professional with almost 30 years of experience. He has produced original and promotional content focusing on sports, travel, food, culture and the arts. For 8 years, Kirk served as an Executive Producer for SXSW where he founded the Pro Media department. His background as a musician and film production served him well in producing hundreds of live concert videos, interview series, promotional materials and partner programming. Kirk also developed and distributed SXSW’s first and only original content network, SXSW ON. He is now the co-owner of Five24 Productions based out of New Orleans, Louisiana where he also runs a music studio affectionately called “The Shop”.

Luann Williams
Luann Williams has been involved in many facets of the music industry, with over 12 years of experience in music business development at South by Southwest (SXSW). Her expertise extends to producing and managing Hackathons for renowned events such as SXSW, Wallifornia Music Tech in Belgium, and SOCAN and Canadian Music Week in Toronto, among others. In 2023-2024, Luann handled sponsorships for the David Bowie World Fan Convention, securing and managing high-profile partnerships, and she has also been an Account Manager for The ConneXtion since 2021. She was the founder and editor of Pop Culture Press, a long-running internationally distributed music magazine. Currently, she is spearheading sponsorships and partnerships for Nola MusiCon.
